We're thrilled to offer two full days dedicated to learning about Parkinson's Disease, exploring a variety of treatment and care options, and discovering activities that can enhance daily life with PD. Jeffrey H. Kordower, Ph.D.

Founding Director of ASU-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center (NDRC)

Kordower is the Charlene and J. Orin Distinguished Director at the Biodesign Institute, and professor of Life Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at ASU. He has over thirty years of research experience and is internationally recognized as a leader in the area of Parkinson’s Disease. He has special expertise in the mechanisms underlying the neurodegeneration characteristic of Parkinson’s disease and is pioneering new avenues to develop therapies which will slow, if not arrest, disease progression, to eventually fulfill the hope for a cure in the future.

A Note from the Founder, Dave Koch:

As a physical therapist, I worked with Parkinson’s patients for years before receiving my own diagnosis in 2017. It was then that I understood firsthand how challenging this illness can be and realized my prior knowledge was limited. Navigating the Internet for trustworthy treatments, products, or services proved difficult and frustrating. That experience sparked the journey leading to the creation of PD Care Connection.

This past year has been particularly rewarding. We’ve introduced skills assessments, speech screenings, and expanded educational opportunities for healthcare providers—all part of our original vision. Seeing these initiatives materialize is incredibly gratifying.

We are now involving students in our programs, enabling them to learn about Parkinson’s disease early in their education as therapists. This exposure will help them appreciate the strength and resilience within the Parkinson’s community, rather than fearing it.

Looking forward, we plan to offer quarterly assessments so individuals can monitor their progress and adjust goals as needed. While ambitious, we are dedicated to making this effort successful. Additionally, a weekly support group will launch in April, furthering our mission to provide encouragement, hope, and connection for those affected by Parkinson’s.

Participation in this community provides valuable opportunities for learning and engagement. The connections established and insights shared by our speakers continue to encourage ongoing growth. As we look forward to another year of progress, your support—through volunteering or financial contributions—is greatly appreciated. We welcome you to join us in furthering our mission.
